News: February 2018

The US hop industry is continuing to expand.

Figures released by the Hop Growers of America reveal that US hop acreage has increased by 79.5% since 2012 and production by 77% during the same period.

Washington still dominates the industry, with 75.4% of the hop share, with Idaho now the second most productive state, nudging ahead of Oregon.

Emphasis on the type of hops cultivated has also changed during the last five years. In 2012, the balance between alpha and aroma/dual purpose hops was 50/50: in 2017, alpha hops accounted for 80% of the crop.
