Adnams Extra Revived By Norfolk Brewhouse

Print
News: February 2018

One of Britain’s great lost beers is set to make a comeback.

Adnams Extra, the 4.3% ABV best bitter that was judged Champion Beer of Britain by CAMRA in 1993, has been recreated by Norfolk Brewhouse.

Norfolk’s David Holliday was granted access to the Adnams brewing books to choose a beer that showed the longevity of Maris Otter barley. Although there were numerous to choose from in the Adnams historic portfolio, he selected Extra, which will go on sale at CAMRA’s Great British Beer Festival – Winter in Norwich this month.

Norfolk Brewhouse is also collaborating with a French brewery to create a beer for this year’s Norwich City of Ale celebration. A recipe is being devised with Northmaen Brewery, close to Norwich’s twin town of Rouen, for the event which this year takes place 24 May–3 June.
