Greene King Launches Heritage Range

Print
News: January 2018

A new range of beers created from a variety of barley that has come back from the dead has been launched by Greene King.

The Suffolk company has taken supplies of Chevallier barley – revived by Crisp Malting from five seeds stored in a seed bank – to develop Heritage Suffolk Pale Ale (5% ABV), seasoned with Saaz and Strisselspalt hops, and Heritage Vintage Fine Ale (6.5%), which also includes amber malt and is hopped with Fuggle, Golding and Bramling Cross.

Another brewer currently using Chevallier is Cheshire Brewhouse, which has brewed a version of its Govinda IPA with the malt.
